HDMI Active Optical Cable (AOC) transmits the HDMI signal over fiber optic cable allowing for longer distances over a thinner cable.  Constructed from fiber strands, this cable reduces the risk of EMI/RFI so performance is stable when used in high interference environments such as manufacturing facilities or data centers.  AOC draws power from the HDMI source devices, so no external power source is required.  

AOC cables are uni-directional, so one end of the cable is clearly labeled "source" and would be plugged into your HDMI source (ie: DVD Player, Xbox, etc).  The other end is labeled "display" which will be plugged into your HDMI display (TV, Monitor, Projector, etc.)
